Ancient Illumination
by Rod Van Blake

If you like adventures in a galaxy far far away or going where no man has gone before, try this space opera right here in the milky way!

About this Book

During the days of the Cro-Magnon, beings of pure light came to Earth to make an attempt at enlightening man. One member of this ancient race felt that the humanoids on Earth were entirely too ignorant and philosophically handicapped to ever truly grasp their teachings. Acting on these feelings, this being thought his time would be better spent experimenting with them instead.

When the Counsel of Twelve found out what one of their own had been doing, they charged him with crimes against an innocent society who had not had the time to properly develop. They left Earth but exiled the culprit, while taking away his ability to transform into his pure light form which subsequently stops him from leaving the planet. He is tasked with helping the people he wronged evolve and grow. The original Pharaoh does just that, but not in the way the counsel intended. Man mutates into various groups of people: the Kison Tontu or stone people, Limbia Johari – the walking jewels, the Ongakujin, and many more.

At the advice of Babylon, a blue-skinned Atlantian, Jared Omega is tasked with uniting humanity, in all their new forms, to confront Pharaoh in an effort to stop what has become galaxy wide bloodshed.

Here we go again!

Last month the second novel in the Ancient Illumination novel went live and now I am prepping for my second Comic con appearance here in Baltimore MD at the convention center downtown. I have been pretty busy so this is just a quick blog to let everyone know what I have been and what I will be up to. So on September 28th thru the 30th I’ll be in Baltimore at table A219. I did well last year and returning with more than one book should bode well for another great showing. Before the close of the year I will be hard at work on the third novel and mapping out the outline for the first of my fantasy series. At the end of next month I will be at the VA Comic con in Richmond Virginia at the Speedway on October 27th and 28th. Should be another fun event with lots of comic book and scifi fans dressed up as their favorite fictional characters from a variety of Geekdoms! The last time I was able to participate was in 2015 I believe at the Tidewater Comic con in Va Beach. Towards the middle of the month I will be taking another voice acting class with Melissa Leebaert if I can get in. Why? Because I am also in the process of recording the audio books to put them up on audible and iTunes so that people who don’t have time to read my stories can at least listen to them on the way to and from work. I have confidence in my voice but want to make sure... read more

Ancient Illumination makes an Appearance at the Baltimore Comic Con!

I must admit I was a bit nervous coming into an event like this as a vendor for the first time not knowing how a literary author would do at a convention that primarily is about comic books and other visual forms of media. I had no prints, comic books, graphic novels or posters of well known characters to offer. I had a few placards made showing visual representations of a few of my characters and a banner behind me depicting one of the more prominent figures I had created along with one of my ships. These worked great as they gave a visual for people to look at and opened the door for me to engage them if they seemed relatively interested then I could tell them about the characters and my story. For a first experience it could not have gone much better than it did. There are a few reasons I think that helped. The visuals I already mentioned, I had a plan before going in, I actively engaged people as they walked by, and finally I was consistent.                       I think it also helped that my table was relatively nicely presented and organized (I had help with that). It was not cluttered and there were a few things that caught peoples eye as they passed. It just so happens that I am a large person and that helped catch some folks attention. As my size 6’9″ 350 lbs is something I cannot... read more
